On October 27 ARK was visited by a group of students from Kapan school #2. The students are interested in ecological problems, environmental issues, sustainable living and permaculture. ARK project coordinator Armen Kazaryan told them about permaculture as a system of agricultural and social design principles centered on simulating or directly utilizing the patterns and features observed in natural ecosystems.
The students together with their German teacher Hasmik Hovhannesian in their turn told us about the work they have done in the framework of the international school competition "School for the environment" held by the Goethe Institute. They decorated their schoolyard and also placed there a comfortable sofa, made of 487 plastic bottles collected from the nature (rivers, fields , parks, streets).
