Halidzor FortressHalidzor Fortress is located 5km southwest of Kapan, Halidzor was built in the 10th-century as a monastery. In the beginning of the 18th-century, Armenian military commander David Bek turned the ancient monastery into an unassailable fortress and a symbol of many victories.
This 1 km path to Halidzor Fortress starts in the Halidzor district just outside Kapan. The beginning of the hike takes you through a little bit of 'urban hiking' before you venture deep into the forest. This is a trail that villagers have used for centuries, to pick greens and herbs.
