New Crowdfunding Campaign!!!!!!!!

4/19/2015

Dear friends, as you may already know, Armenia is a small country and yet its nature and landscape is one of the most unique in the world. Our beautiful nature has a great potential to bring eco-tourists to our country and to spread economic development to all the regions of Armenia. This is an exciting idea but everything must start with a first step and right now, we need your help to make that happen.

In two weeks we will be starting a crowdfunding project aimed to develop hiking trail network in Kapan region, Syunik, the first such effort ever! In first phase of our Ark Armenia project we have already established an ARK eco-fitness camp located nearby Kapan, to act as a focal point for volunteers, fitness groups, locals, tourists and anyone interested in exploring everything that our beautiful region has to offer. In this first phase we have also created a new website and promo video, thanks to generous help from our volunteers and supporters.

In the second phase of our project we want to establish a network of sustainable hiking trails around Kapan, which will allow visiting tourist’s access to the ecological, cultural and historic riches of the region. To achieve this we will enlist the help of volunteers, both local and international.

We are asking you to be a part of this transformation to a sustainable, environmentally-friendly economy that preserves our nature and brings opportunities to villages and cities that need them most. Once our crowdfunding campaign starts, your support will be crucial in raising funds, spreading awareness, making connections with like-minded individuals and making our goal a reality!

Every donation towards the campaign will help develop this new eco touristic industry and allow Armenia to promote itself as a destination for nature lovers from around the world. If you like what we’re doing and believe in a sustainable economy, please take part in discussion to improve the project and donate when crowdfunding campaign starts. We also appreciate sharing this campaign with your friends, colleagues and organizations that you think might be interested.

Thank you and we wish to see you at our eco-fitness camp soon!

Littering in Armenia - A Positive

4/9/2015

Comments

We found this great little video clip on how to solve the problem of littering in Armenia. The smallest act can spark awareness and help solve the problem. We think it's important to teach the kids at a young age that littering is not acceptable. The Acopian Center for the Environment made this video possible and today is working to raise awareness about conservation in Armenia. You can find out more information about the centre here.

A Visit to Baghaberd Fortress

We visited Baghaberd Fortress with our visiting Workawayers.

The fortress is a 4th to 12th century Armenian fortress located along a ridge overlooking the Voghji River 14km northwest from the village of Kapan in the Syunik Province of Armenia.

The fortress is one of the most picturesque in Armenia and has a colourful history. It is rarely visited by locals or tourists and offers a beautiful vista where you can relax and picnic.

Strategically the fortress guards the point where two valleys converge and offers some stunning views of the area. It can be reached with a short hike from the M2 road, 14km from Kapan.

Baghaberd Fortress
Latitude: 39.215414 | Longitude: 46.278105
Altitude: 1274 meters
